Several of the topics raised in this thread are addressed in this most recent LHC Update of 23 July http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay ... fId=101927
Should be another one out in a few days.

4 x 10e30cm-2s-1 luminosity at the start of the current run ! How did that happen ?

AFAIK this was the first time they corrected for chromacity after a ramp ....

They are also celebrating 1/pb = 1000/nb of integrated luminosity.

Does anyone know, why the luminosity of alice is so low?

Thursday afternoon plan looks interesting on the co-ordination page ...

10 Amps/sec ramp test :-)

What's the amps/sec rate they use now?

2 for ramp, 10 for cycle/rampl down (e.g. no beam)
so they are trying to keep the beam unter control while it is changing 5x faster :-)

I would rather herd cats ...

Looking forward it, too bad there has to be a ramp down but perhaps it could be made a little faster too. Just don't over do it guys, hate to see another 1 year hold :problem:

Things are progressing well, I am always keeping my fingers crossed ;)

They're moving to 48 bunches this week!!

Plus, if anyone noticed, the beta* values of the LHC configuration page are now updated live...

The last 10A/s ramp attend was done without problems!

And they're planning to test bunch trains too.

I love the way more and more bits are falling into place :)
