As I type this, it is happening! The first 13 TeV collisions are happening right now, in ATLAS and CMS.
Edited: now in all four IPs.
Now the experiments have some test data to adjust their machines.
But there is still plenty to do before the real production run:
- Beams are not yet stable
- The movable devices (detector parts that are really close to the beam) aren't allowed to be moved in yet
- Intensity is still kept low, for safety
- Everything must be calibrated for the measurements to be useful
