Pre-2008 predicted timeline of LHC performance?

Post by jmc2000 » Wed Nov 28, 2012 9:18 pm

well, as the LHC comes to the end of its running for the long two year shut-down, I think we can all agree that it has been a huge success, right?

1. 125Gev Higgs discovered

2. Expected SUSY models ruled out.

3. Over 25/fb of data recorded for Atlas and CMS for theorists for the next two years.

4. Experience in running the LHC which will lead to improvements when it's next started.

But apart from the obvious running at 14Tev, what was the expected timeline of discovery and performance of the LHC just before it was turned on, on September 2008?

Cheers,

Jmc

Original plan (2008) was to run at 14 TeV till 2016, then upgrade.

Various upgrade scenarios were considered as early as in 2005
