The plot thickens, "OPERA Confirms: Neutrinos Travel Faster Than Light!!"
http://www.science20.com/quantum_diarie ... ight-84763
So they get the same time using short pulses. Could still be a timing problem I suppose. I look forward to the movie.

CP Violation In Charm Decays: 3.5 Sigma From LHCb!
Big news from a CERN experiment other than the big three of Atlas CMS and Alice. LHCB shown 3 sigma evidence of CP violation in charm decays that is significantly non zero. Not predicted by standard model so it's new but needs more data to give confirmation of the findings. Three articles on this sh...

Well yes I jumped the gun there but they are done now with maybe another 75 pb-1 collected in two short runs.
Good luck with the IONS.

LHC Proton Physics runs for 2011 now complete.
That's it for Protons. Atlas has 5.506 fb-1 and CMS 5.602 fb-1. Onward to IONs! http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lhc-commissioning/commissioning-ions.htm Interesting that they might try Protons on Ions in 2012. http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=154544 And on Twitter I find this. ...

Re: Neutrinos go faster then light !
Apparently the suggestion that Opera use shorter Neutrino pulses to try to resolve the superluminal issue has been has been followed and data is being taken.

Re: Neutrinos go faster then light !
From Tara Shears on Twitter. There's still much discussion of speedy neutrinos - 43 papers on arXiv with "opera" in the title in last month: http://inspirehep.net/search?ln=en&ln=en&p=find+t+opera+and+date%3E08/2011&action_search=Search&sf=&so=d&rm=&rg=100&sc=0&of=hb At least everybody is having a g...

Re: High pile-up MD
From; http://hep.physics.indiana.edu/~luehring/pile-up.html Pile-up occurs when the readout of a particle detector includes information from more than one primary beam particle interaction - these multiple interactions are said to be "piling-up". The LHC has had it's instantaneous luminosity increas...
