Re: 2012 Events Discussion

Does any one have any more information on the "physics areas where Alice is competitive with other LHC experiments" in protron-proton physics.

Re: 2012 Events Discussion

I am just wondering why ALICE is still collecting proton-proton collisions. With the other experiments doing so well and collecting more data by many factors of ten, what does ALICE hope to see that the other experiments can't. In previous years it made sense becuase they were using the collisons to...

Thanks DCWhitworth. It looks like they are about to do some VDM scans, so maybe we will know more after.

Re: 2012 Events Discussion

The progress report link is out of date. There is a new link on the LHC cordination page. From what i could gather, besides a few minor glitches, things are going smothly and they will be ready for the first beam today!!!!!

Good luck to all you LHC folks find us some exciting particals this year :D

Re: 2011 Events Discussion

Any one know why Atlas has been recording less collision data than CMS? In the last fill Atlas had 2 pb and CMS had over 40 pb.

Re: What's the maximum bunch intensity they can go for?

I read that they were going for 1.6x10^11 per bunch. I think it was in one of the progress reports.

Re: 2011 Events Discussion

Well that was an exciting week, over 400 picobarns of data, and they broke pretty much every record they had. Lets hope they can keep it up!!!!

Man they were so close to 2000/ubs. It seems like every fill gives a little bit more luminoisty, i hope they can keep it up :)
