Is there anything of note that came out of the commissioning phase? Does everything look good compared to last year? I assume everything is going good, as they are ahead of schedule. It's just frustrating not having access to the morning meetings anymore
That is really unfortunate they restricted the morning meetings like that. It was a great resource to keep up with LHC operations. I can only hope it's temporary and that they lower the restrictions, it will be very hard to find out what is going on with out being able to view the indco pages.
that's a wrap. They ended the year with 58% time in stable beams, which is pretty amazing. They met or passed all the lumi goals as well. Here's to a 2017 run that is just as productive.
Ya, that sucks i was really hoping to see the LHC finally run with the maximum number of bunches. Still, they have had great performance running with ~2000 bunches so in the end it might be a good thing they are not able to inject more than that. We don't know if they would have had as high as of av...
Nice link jmc. So far we haven't seen the increased lumi from the BCMS beam but I guess they are talking it slow. If they keep this pace they should get >14 FB by July 15th!
https://lpc.web.cern.ch/lpc-minutes/2016-06-27.htm Interesting stuff about current and future operations. One thing in particular caught my attention, "Since in the ongoing year there is no possibility to inject trains longer than 144b in the LHC it would be possible to move this AGK towards the end...
Any news on the SPS beam dump problem? Are they going to try and fix it this year? I haven't seen them mention it at all, all they have said is that it is stopping them from injecting more bunches. Follow up question why is it stopping them from injecting more than 2076 bunches? If there is a proble...
