In the slides from today's meeting there is a strange loss pattern shown on slide 3:
http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lh ... 20830.pptx
It does not fit with the pattern of a falling dust particle like the "UFO" events.
My first idea is a fiber-like structure which came loose on one end and oscillates through
the beams way. Maybe in 2 superimposed modes.
Any ideas about that or other causes?
Interesting loss pattern "Guess the Cause" :-)
Re: Interesting loss pattern "Guess the Cause" :-)
My idea is it might have been dust particle that broke to several pieces and each got "annihilated" on its own path.
