Collisions are occuring now
Collisions are occuring now
While not the main event yet, LHCb is showing possible collision events live at around 2hz

How's forum server holding out? Traffic peaking much?
Re: Collisions are occuring now
Have not checked but seems perfect fast... The ElReg story was sure to increase our load.. Always does..

At what energy leveles?
Re: Collisions are occuring now
I need to point out that these are beam/gas collisions, not Proton vs proton collisions..
But very soon... The main event..

Re: Collisions are occuring now
So it's like proton-graphite collisions we discussed earlier - nothing the media could eventually complain about,Xymox wrote:I need to point out that these are beam/gas collisions, not Proton vs proton collisions..

YEA !!!!!
7TeV COLLISIONS !
7TeV COLLISIONS !
Re: Collisions are occuring now
Good job. It's always nice waking up and hearing about a new record.

At 12:58 PM Cern time Logbook said "First collisions at 3.5TeV per beam!"
Historic!

Re: Collisions are occuring now
ATLAS just reported a collision rate of 50/60Hz, which is apparently as planned.

I am so pleased I made myself sit through it......talk about facing ya fears head on was fantastic
Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted with large ones either by Albert Einstein.
Re: Collisions are occuring now
Wonderful moment
60 Hz is much better than 1-2 Hz last year. But still - I think they'll have to increase number of bunches per beam soon if they want to collect the planned amount of data.

Beams dumped at 16:31 due to an LBDS interlock; LBDS is LHC Beam Dump System so I suspect that this was not planned. They are investigating
Re: Collisions are occuring now
Log file shows the following:
Beam dumped because of tracking error of Principal circuit of generator MKD K beam 2.
Recorded a positive tracking error of 0.5 %

However, almost 3 hours of Physics run was achieved
