Rock stable beams

Post by Kasuha » Tue Mar 23, 2010 2:09 pm

I can't help it, but it looks like LHC guys achieved rock stable beams - there is no visible decrease in intensity for over hour and half - even through ramp!
Good job!

Ah, but looks can be deceiving … on “Page 1” the “Stable Beam” flags always remained red and set to “false.” This means that they never met the standard for “LHC Stable Beams.”

Stable Beams is a manually set flag (or at least I remember it being as such), indicating to the experiments that the beam is, more or less, in "Physics" mode, and that they won't be playing with it or dumping it regularly. This isn't the case so far :)
