Re: ** Current Events and discussion **
Other than pesky PC and Cryo drop outs it looks like is going good. Filling Scheme alternate injection R1 R2 pilot from LHC_Config. So I think very soon 1st beams of 2010.

PC problems plus an access is required ... NO BEAMS before 8h tomorrow

More frustration with nQps. There is an enormous quantity of equipment that must all work correctly at the same time. If one considers the number of connection points and active components and power supplies in the nQps alone that have to work reliably it boggles the mind that it can work at all.
I hope they can find a root cause for the issues and correct it soon.

Congrats to CERN for "first beam" (of 2010) last night.

Well Done
Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted with large ones either by Albert Einstein.
Re: ** Current Events and discussion **
For those of you that have not been following "Page 1" events, for the first time this year we had two beams (red and blue) circulating. Neither beam was stable but that will be the next step.
We are getting closer to collisions ...

Also, from midnight to noon the LHC will be down for something called "cryo intervention." Sounds like a polite and politically correct way of saying "we need to go in and hit something with a big hammer."
Historical Note:
Inthe early days of V2 rocket testing at White Sands, USA (circa 1948), this was known as "ball peene adjustment."

That depends. CCC might simply be out of ice-cream

Today so far:
Seem to have finally got stuff in 67 and 78 working and are ready to throw in some beams soon.
Also solved their Dump Event messages messing up - with what sounds like "Oops, we plugged in the wrong cable in the wrong place" - I know this major issue often occurs in Physics...

Re: ** Current Events and discussion **
Wow, just checked the charts and we actually had 2 beams up at once about an hour ago!!!
And at 3e9 intensity too!!!! It won't be long now

Oh, Ya- it's a roller coaster ride but they are keeping both beams up!!

Re: ** Current Events and discussion **
Today's interesting glitch was that RF turned off without anyone noticing, so the injected protons debunched and the euipment assumed there was no beam (and claimed it was lost). They injected twice more, before someone pointed out the intensity was getting quite high on one of the monitors, since all the protons were still in there! They dumped and sorted it out quickly enough once they worked out what had happened.
