WELL here we go again
7 TeV collisions here we come..
From a reliable source:
We’re currently commissioning the new quench protection system of the LHC and performing electrical tests of the main circuits (= main bending and quadrupole magnets).
The injectors of the LHC will start taking beam today.
By mid February LHC should see beam again…

Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted with large ones either by Albert Einstein.

That's soon. Do they talk about beams only, or about the actual collisions happening in February?

I think it's just the beams at the minute
don't quote me on that though

At least in 2009 2 Beams at the same time always meant also the chance of collissions even if the beams are not perfectly focused to get the maximum possible collisionrate at first, but some high-energy collissions will occur for sure as soon as there are 2 stable beams in the LHC.

The only thing I'm worried about is the machine breaking down.

Not as good as her LHC rap. I know logic says there's nothing to be worried about, but still.

Exactly. I don't really walk around thinking we'll die soon, but I can't say I feel confident either.

Nope, I disagree. Doubt in your mind maybe, but doubt in reality no.
I understand your fears, but they are 'monsters under the bed' fears not fears worthy of disrupting your lives.
