Tinfoiltards mentioned in El. Reg.

Post by BenM » Tue Mar 16, 2010 4:37 pm

oh yes, Lewis Page fined new sources of mirth and hilarity... see towards the end of the comments for a giggle (where the TFTs have posted that the El. Reg. article is favourable.... guess they don;t get irony)

Anyway enough of my rambling - Linkie

I saw this topic already for some time, and I didn't now what "Tinfoiltards" meant, so I just looked it up, and Oh-oh I think I might be one. Cause my computer-space at home is shielded off by Tinfoil!!! Perhaps this the reason that I keep asking questions, while all you others have been subliminally influenced by waves from outer space!

Hehehe nice one.

No worries, as long as the tinfoil is there for a rational reason (like keeping light in or out) you're not in the tinfoil brigade.
Also, rumours have it that for greater efficiency one should wear the tinfoil as a hat...

Hey March, now I get the picture why you are posing with a hat ;)

ye, of course, I've got a 9 tailed demon in me, and I look a bit like him, especially when I was younger but unfortunately due to my age these paper-pictures are stocked away in some boxes. And I live on the crazy train: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un_qy9FaG-g

btw I'll buy the first one who can guess the setting of this image a beer, should be an easy one for you physics nuts, I'll give a hint it's in the city where I live.

Well...

Could be Berlin, but more importantly, why are you wearing an arsenal hat hmm?.

Other than that I smell a Urban Explorer, I know Chris is of sorts :).

Lol!
Nearly fell of my chair laughing. I never made that connection before (BTW the tinfoil is underneath - trust me ;))
Actually that hat is my souvenir of the Grand Canyon. Since it has accompanied me on several epic holidays and has become my "Epic Hat", I might take it with me if I ever get a chance to visit the LHC.

Back to the quiz - since you're from Brussels, how about the Atomium?

The hat is cool it makes you look a bit like Lee Von Cleef:

lol, not the Atomium, this spot is far better known than those 9 balls, and in fact it's an iron molecule. btw I'll give a second hint, and as Shadowdraxx mentioned the Gooners:

Either my appearance is to distractive, or you guys are blind, simply not interested, or don't like beer. But after two clear hints and I don't feel generous anymore and I'll just post the answer.

Argh!
If you Google "physics Brussels", Solvay is prominently there! And in stead I went for something that couldn't possibly be it, because it's standing in a park and you can't see any park in your pic...

Guess that I owe YOU a beer now.

The building "Lycée Émile Jacqmain" is actually also in a park, LeopoldPark:
