X Class solar flare

Post by Xymox » Tue Feb 15, 2011 3:06 am

So we just had our first X class solar flare. More to come. Geomagnetic storm is approaching.

I wonder if the LHC will see the effects. Xray already hit us.

Partial radio black out in progress..

Geomagnetic prediction center, but as of this minute has not updated for the flare that occurred.

This looks to be completely boring. I cant even see a Coronal Mass Ejection looking at the vids.

But its a sign of things to come.

The LHC being a really big electromagnet would seem to be susceptiable to geomagnetic storms ? You would think its like a huge, super conductive antenna for magnetic fields this large. Even if they pulled the power all the coils would still act as a antenna ? No ?
