Electromagnetic Black Holes

Post by tswsl1989 » Thu Jun 03, 2010 10:00 am

Some scientists have recently succeeded in creating a composite structure capable of absorbing 99% of microwaves directed at it, converting the received energy into heat rather than re-emitting the microwaves.

Does this have implications for Solar Energy?

It might be possible to utilise this for microwave power transmission. If scientists succeed in creating an equivalent that operates within the visible/IR range then it might have some implications for solar power - although I'm not certain whether you'ld be able to use this to generate electricity directly.
