The "Schedule" shows the first collisions at 450 GeV on Thurs the 18th during the "night" shift. The "night" shift is defined as 23:00 thru 07:00 which therefore is mostly on the 19th.

The have been keeping very close to the schedule even with the surprises.

Slight change to the schedule ... now to start on the Morning of the 19th (07:00 to 15:00).

So when will higher energies collide according to the schedule?

Machine is at 3.5 Tev without beam!!! Been like that for the last 30 minutees or so. Awesome. Now ramping down. Need to check the logbook to see how everything went.

Can someone explain what being at 3.5 TeV without beams means?

What is at 3.5 TeV if there is no beams? :?:

Thank you.

Ramp to 3.5TeV with no beams means the magnets were brought up to the required power levels to circulate particles at 3.5 TeV, but there were no particles actually in there circulating. They're taking it a step at a time...

Oh  Oh The slow approach not like in December where it appeared that things were taking place at a much more rapid pace. I guess I have time for another beer then.

Todays two ramps to 3.5 TeV did not go perfectly. According to the LHC / OP LOGS magnet RQTF.A81B1 tripped both times. While it never caused a quench, take a good look at the VISTARS / LHC / STATUS OP page; note that the energy plunges from 3.5 TeV to 0 (zero) on the second trip. However, VISTARS / LHC / Page 1 shows a slow ramp down on power (amperage).

Many "behind the scenes" parameters still need a "bit of fussing." A drop in energy from 3.5 Tev to zero does place a bit of strain on the systems.

would rather they took it slow and do things proper :D than just rush things

:happy-jumpyellow: Looking like all their ducks are in a row for a 3.5Tev beam tonight! Fingers crossed all goes well, their on count down now!
