How good is 7 TeV

I tried posting this yesterday but I must have done something wrong because I don't see it anywhere.

I don't know at what level other colliders operate at, such as the one in the U.S.
My question – Is the 7 TeV energy level higher than anything in the past, and might it produce new science results?

thats strange, im sure i saw your thread too, im certain stephen answered it.

Anyhow, 7 TeV is an excellent starting point for new discoveries, it is within a cetain area for the higgs (if it exists at this level or atall) and also in the range for furthering our understanding of the standard model, and its various extentions (the extentions being only theory atm).

So its a good bet there will be some awesome data gathered.

Yes, 7 TeV will be a new record for power (LHC already holds that having surpassed the Tevatron).

And in theory, yes, it should reveal some new/more powerful physics

FermiLab's Tevatron in the United States, now the second most powerful accelerator, operates at about 1 TeV.
