look at it this way the abstract + abstract theories about them possibly being created isnt till design spec anyroad, so think of 2010 and 2011 as time off.
Lets just panic when 2012 comes :P in the meantime lets party

Absolutely. I don't really learn new things anymore, I just read some articles again to reassure myself. I called several physicists from Harvard who said there's nothing to worry about, so I guess if that didn't stop me from being nervous, nothing will.

I'm uneasy with the collisions happening so soon, but it's going to be better when it's behind us. "It's not the chair that kills you, it's the wait."

aye totally agree its the anguish of waiting that makes it build up, come summer the lhc will have been runnin at 7 TEV the sun will be out and we can all enjoy a well earned rest bite.

Question - Is the 7TeV level a new high which might generate new science?

Yes. The Higgs Boson has a good shot of being found.

When do you think we'll get the first science results? I tried to find this out with some web searching, and it looks like the first real results may be presented at the ICHEP conference (Jul 21-28 2010). There is also a satellite Higgs hunting conference (Jul 29-31 2010).

http://higgshunting.fr/

From the Higgs Hunting page:
The analysis of the first LHC data will be presented for the first time this summer at the major international conference ICHEP (International Conference on High Energy Physics), which takes place in Paris from 22 till 28 July 2010.
Do you think they'll have something to release before then?

I would've thought they'd want to keep it a secret until they can make a big show and tell - or release it only just before to give visitors time to read it

Maybe they'll be so excited they would be able to keep quite about it.
