The HCC main page updated today (27 Jan 2010) http://hcc.web.cern.ch/HCC/:
The LHC is being prepared for operations at 3.5 TeV:
* nQPS cables refurbishment is completed in all sectors
* ElQA HV test successfully performed on sectors 81 - 12 - 23 - 34 - 45. The test in ongoing in sector 56.
Sectors 81 - 12 - 23 - 34 are now managed by Hardware Commissioning Coordination:
Sector 12:
Powering in phase II ongoing.
Sector 81:
PIC2 tests successfully performed on RQD/F and RB (at 100A). RQD/F have been brought to injection (PLI1.b3) and then proper heaters firing has been verified. RRR measurement tests are ongoing.
Sector 23:
Powering in phase II ongoing.
Sector 34:
In preparation for powering.

The high energy collisions are approaching fast. Let's hope that everything goes okay, since there are going to be trillions of collisions. It's definitely a smart choice to take things easy and not rush for the 5 TeV energies so soon.

I am feeling the same as you i think you know this but i have been told many times over the past few weeks that there is nothing to worry about, makes sense but just the other night i went into freakout mode i got calmed pretty fast so it was not realy bad, your right we are heading into a scary time but also a very excing one and i have a feeling that they will be taking things slowly 
you know where i am if ya need me and remember stay happy

according to the field sector 45 is also already in PO2 today, therby half of the ring is ready for 3.5Tev now.

I believe the 1 Inverse fb at 7 TeV or Bust! http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/cosmi ... v-or-bust/? mode is in effect.
Small steps, don't break the apparatus and be patient.

Great decision on their part. There's no need to rush anything.
