Did you guys and gals notice that the temperature graphs are not updated anymore?
Have a look at, for example, http://hcc.web.cern.ch/HCC/cryo_main/av ... ?mode=week
The graph ends at Jan 4...
I can't find any info about it!

Re: Temperature readings not updating!
It's ok. They were on Xmas break and just got back to work on Wednesday. They have some work to do on the machine for a few weeks yet and we should see the temps coming back down around the beginning of Feb. for a projected continuation of commissioning in mid Feb.
They don't have enough storage for all the Helium so they keep it liquid at 4.5 K and save on the power for the 1.8 K compressors.
I don't know why the graph seems to stop on the 4th but I'm sure it will come back soon.
There may be some hints here http://cdarve.web.cern.ch/cdarve/

Re: Temperature readings not updating!
Are they going to do the high energy collisions in February? That's really soon.

Re: Temperature readings not updating!
The machine commissioning to 3.5TeV/beam starts mid feb. See the LHC-Commissioning page http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lhc-commissioning/ for updates.Stephen wrote:Are they going to do the high energy collisions in February? That's really soon.
Pilot Physics appears to be expected http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lh ... e_v1.3.pdf in early March.
I as one of many around the world can't wait.
Re: Temperature readings not updating!
The readings are back. Now we can see that sector 81 is completely cold again.
On the other side, sector 67 has a few "warm" magnets on the 6 side.
They're probably repairing something.

Re: Temperature readings not updating!
And per latest update on the Hardware commissioning page [url]http://hcc.web.cern.ch/HCC//url]
" The LHC is being prepared for operations at 3.5 TeV:
nQPS cables refurbishment to be performed on all sectors. Currently ongoing in sector 81
Commissioning of nQPS will be done in the 7 sectors where it has not yet been hooked up to the interlock loop
Main Dipoles and Quadrupoles have to be commissioned up to 6 kA
Powering tests will start in sector 81 after the Electrical Qualification of the main circuits at the beginning of week 3"
And I think it's around end of week one now.
So they got things to do and I await further developments (as do we all I'm sure).

Re: Temperature readings not updating!
I wonder how the CMS plumbing ( opening up ) is going...
Re: Temperature readings not updating!
Judging from the LHC cryogenics page, they've done sector 81 and are now working on sectors 12 and 78.
