2018 Operation
Re: 2018 Operation
22:32 to 23:55 I believe?
Re: 2018 Operation
At 22:32 they only dumped some probesGlobal Post Mortem Event
Event Timestamp: 10/06/18 21:39:22.990
Fill Number: 6773
Accelerator / beam mode: PROTON PHYSICS / STABLE BEAMS
Energy: 6499200 [MeV]
Intensity B1/B2: 14259 / 17073 [e^10 charges]
Event Category / Classification: PROGRAMMED_DUMP / MULTIPLE_SYSTEM_DUMP
First BIC input Triggered: First USR_PERMIT change: Ch 1-Programable Dump b1: B T -> F on CIB.CCR.LHC.B1
Re: 2018 Operation
Ah OK tnx. MD currently...
Re: 2018 Operation
Here's the lumi situation as of the start of MD1:
Re: 2018 Operation
Hi
How long do they plan to keep doing 90m?
And does anyone have any insights as to why 90m good is? Will this help some specific decay channel?
Thanks
Joao

Re: 2018 Operation
Even this morning they were saying it would end today, but they put another fill in.
High β* runs are for elasitc/diffractive collisions. Stuff TOTEM and AFP/ALFA are interested in.

Re: 2018 Operation
The high β* run dragged on a bit too long. LHCb is back to the nominal prediction line.

Re: 2018 Operation
A whole 1/fb within 24 hrs!
Re: 2018 Operation
Level 3 evacuation alarm in all sectors due to high temperature during this fill. Fire brigade says no action required.
I guess you can't escape the heat 100 metres below the surface

So much for it being the coldest known place in the universe

Re: 2018 Operation
Getting 1.0/fb daily is achievable, but only with initial lumi in excess of 20,000. This used to be achievable, but apparently no more. What's the problem?
Re: 2018 Operation
Delivered lumi so far this year:
50.0 /fb to ATLAS
51.9 /fb to CMS
1.9 /fb to LHCb
18.2 /pb to ALICE

From page 19 there's been some cryogenic issues as far back as June and July with the failure of two compressors. These will be replaced in TS2 removing the current limitations.

Re: 2018 Operation
Run 2 delivered luminosity so far:
ATLAS: 150.29 fb^-1
ALICE: 60.96 pb^-1
CMS: 154.26 fb^-1
LHCb: 6.38 fb^-1
ATLAS: 150.29 fb^-1
ALICE: 60.96 pb^-1
CMS: 154.26 fb^-1
LHCb: 6.38 fb^-1
Re: 2018 Operation
Run 2 is over but they outdid themselves again
Final totals for 2018:
65Fb for Atlas
~67Fb for CMS
~2.5Fb for LHCB
2.7Pb for Alice
Does anyone have the full total including run 1?
