So the data taking has paused but the work goes on. Long stop one has almost started, some final tests etc before they finally pull the plug and get to work on the upgrades. https://espace.cern.ch/be-dep/BEDepartm ... e_2013.pdf
Also the grid will be getting a workout processing all the Data that has been collected so far. CERN held a very interesting hangout on that topic that just finished. So if you are going to suffer withdrawal symptoms because the LHC has stopped for two years there's good news because the hangouts will continue. CERN is doing a great job taking advantage of this technical resource Google makes available for free to everyone to do great outreach and let fans from all aroud the Globe participate and ask questions of the experts.
The CERN hangout page is here; http://hangouts.web.cern.ch/ with links to all the past hangouts (archive) and a schedule of planned hangouts for the future.
The place to discuss the LHC. Commissioning, operation, issues, events ....
