Hi, I am a gluon!

Post by gluon » Fri Dec 04, 2009 3:51 pm

Hi!

I work on the IT field but keep a deep parallel interest in physics, namely particle physics based on Quantum Mechanics theories such as the Standard Model. Thus, I obviously follow with great passion everything revolving about the biggest particle accelerator in the world.

I also love technology and the LHC binds together theoretical physics with tons of high-tech needed for its operation. From the cryogenic super conducting magnets to the huge IT grid which collects and distributes the data I try to grasp as much as possible. However, I didn't have a clue that so much data was publicly available and I certainly couldn't dream of accessing live telemetry from the big monster!

KUDUS x 10^12 for Xymox!

Thanks for putting together such a great, information packed site!

Nice to meet you gluon and welcome :D

Thanks!

This forum is also great to find people sharing this common interest in the LHC and particle physics. There's already a nice community. Where were you all before? :)

Well, personally, i started off in the Scientificconcerns.com forum (Formerly LHCconcerns.com) back in 2008, a month or so before they switched it on for the first time. I was afraid back then; i'm not now. :D

Great name.... You make me want to become Hadron or Higgs or something. Lepton or Quark.

Thanks!

Well, I always try to get the "gluon" username in other bulletin boards but it's almost always taken. Thankfully I managed to grab it here.

Keep up the good work!
