Hi, I am a gluon!
Hi, I am a gluon!
Hi!
I work on the IT field but keep a deep parallel interest in physics, namely particle physics based on Quantum Mechanics theories such as the Standard Model. Thus, I obviously follow with great passion everything revolving about the biggest particle accelerator in the world.
I also love technology and the LHC binds together theoretical physics with tons of high-tech needed for its operation. From the cryogenic super conducting magnets to the huge IT grid which collects and distributes the data I try to grasp as much as possible. However, I didn't have a clue that so much data was publicly available and I certainly couldn't dream of accessing live telemetry from the big monster!
KUDUS x 10^12 for Xymox!
Thanks for putting together such a great, information packed site!

Re: Hi, I am a gluon!
Nice to meet you gluon and welcome
Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted with large ones either by Albert Einstein.
Re: Hi, I am a gluon!
Welcome to the site, and I'm glad you've enjoyed all the things on here
Re: Hi, I am a gluon!
Thanks!
This forum is also great to find people sharing this common interest in the LHC and particle physics. There's already a nice community. Where were you all before?

Re: Hi, I am a gluon!
Well, personally, i started off in the Scientificconcerns.com forum (Formerly LHCconcerns.com) back in 2008, a month or so before they switched it on for the first time. I was afraid back then; i'm not now.
Re: Hi, I am a gluon!
Hey Xymox, where are you?
Re: Hi, I am a gluon!
Oops..... sorry.....
Ive been horribly busy lately.. Work, and then my LHCPortal work... Ive been doing ALOT of stuff in email and away from the forum... Its getting hard to keep up with things now.
BUT THATS NO EXCUSE !!!

Great name.... You make me want to become Hadron or Higgs or something. Lepton or Quark.
Re: Hi, I am a gluon!
Thanks!
Well, I always try to get the "gluon" username in other bulletin boards but it's almost always taken. Thankfully I managed to grab it here.
Keep up the good work!
