Re: FCC
Well resurrecting this topic as we have all seen the FCC Conceptual Design Report (CDR) release today. … Is it really worth spending 10bn€ to confirm that the universally recognised as incomplete Standard Model does still work at 100Tev ? Sure some new physic might appear at those energy level but ...
Re: Sad news
Oh, I just read this post just now, overlooked it somehow. Very sad ‘news’. I had a great time and lots of interactions with him. My condolences to his family and friends. Nice of his son to drop us a line. —- Charms, also sorry to hear about your husband parents, Danny aka StrangeQ if I’m correct. ...

Re: you know the RHIC
what energy can it reach up to, I did read it reached energies of 200 GeV but I think that was proton collisions I'm asking because of NICA: http://nica.jinr.ru/ For Nica, the page said "Heavy ions will be accelerated up to kinetic energy of 4.5 GeV per nucleon, the protons – up to 12.6 GeV. " For ...

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
what caused that? Tough to say, it happened in the future. I’m not sure but I believe it was originally believed to have been done by Daisy Johnson , formerly known as Skye, and now known as Quake and being thought of as ‘The Destroyer of Worlds’. But finally it seems that General Talbot was...

Re: Creating "Sparks" - Will it Spark?
Here's a cool video of Sparks in a Vacuum chamber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdRz3GBR_Qs It nicely shows Paschen's Law which is an equation that gives the breakdown voltage, that is, the voltage necessary to start a discharge or electric arc, between two electrodes in a gas as a function of pr...

Re: LIGO - Was It All Just Noise?
I plugged in numbers into the quadrupole formula. There is nothing published because a one-minute calculation shows it is tens of orders of magnitude too weak to be relevant. A small reminder what happens when things are shaken up by small vibrations and whole structures collide: Saverio Ferrari bl...

Not sure if this is the reason, but Xymox has sensitive eyes and therefore it might be black.
Anyway I like it dark, It is the underground here.

Re: Why Xe run
Having worked on the space program, we learned that the more information you provide the public the more support you get. You don’t want to inform the public when there is nothing anymore out there to find. The public might want to call it quits. Imagine an empty sky and you already have flown a do...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
What would the process be? Proton -> what? Every possible result has more energy than a proton. BTW there are 'natural' Proton decay hypothesises so why shouldn't Protons decay faster when shaken heavily through vibrations in the Higgs field and/or SpaceTime? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton_de...

What would the process be? Proton -> what? Every possible result has more energy than a proton. When Protons are rambled apart they could decay in Photons, Electrons, Positrons and Neutrinos plus some Gravity Wave activity from the implosion of the Proton structure. You know like an avalanche, bond...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
Since nuclear fission is possible, due to an assymetrie between the strong-force and the electro/weak-force (for short distances the strong force is stronger for longer distances electro/weak is stronger and for very large distances gravity even exeeed electro/weak). Fission works in that way that ...

Re: Slight disruption of service
Have you asked the people that host your forum? Are the url images being saved on a backup server? You had to do some things to get the images of the old forum loaded on this new forum, maybe there's the hiccup? Regarding what I'm asking here, the link to, or the possible backup folder itself, for t...
