Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

I've seen this page - it's just what we need to understand his background and lack of knowledge. Even my mom identified him as a loony, and she's usually gullible.

Re: planets rotation

Your post actually reminded me all of the hysteria about an apocalypse in the year not to be named. I can't even think about a possible scenario in which the LHC will go insane and eliminate the gravity of the sun towards the earth.

Re: Next generation of collider to replace the LHC

The new set of collider like the linear doesn't sound too bad, but the theoretical collider in the "far future" sounds scary and a bit risky.

Re: I absolutely hate this experiment

Chelle, why don't you try to ask people who know physics these questions?

I'm so glad these collisions came off as a surprise. Way to go!

Ivan! What do you have to say about the recent collisions?

Wow, at this rate they'll reach the full 14 TeV in less than a year.

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

I feel like I should thank Ivan - he was the first person who helped me dealing with my concerns using humor. I used to be completely afraid every time someone mentioned LHC concerns, no matter how little sense they made. Even though I read reassuring studies, I went back to panicking the moment som...

Re: ** current events and discussion **

Maybe, but as a paranoid person I'll feel more relaxed when the collisions will go smoothly.

This is exciting. Let's hope there won't be any panic and everything will go well

Re: I absolutely hate this experiment

But is it possible for the LHC to create something that doesn't currently exist in the universe, like quark-gluon plasma?

Re: Weekend of 12-3-09 collision events !

I prefer them to take it slowly, but there's some advantages to do it without early warnings. I know I would have probably been nervous if they announced the first collisions, so it was a nice surprise when I found out collisions were already made and nothing bad happened.

On a side note, it seems like no one is writing at lhc concerns anymore except Ivan, What happened to everyone?

Did I miss anything? I thought their highest energy so far was 450 GeV.
