Re: Anti-Gravity.
This isn't about "Anti-gravity", it's about whether the gravitational field acts in the same direction for matter as antimatter or not. We don't attribute the behaviour of anti-matter in a magnetic field to "anti-magnetism"Chelle wrote:Wouldn't anti-gravity annihilate when it comes in contact with gravity?

Re: Anti-Gravity.
Anti-gravity doesn't exist. The only difference between matter and anti-matter is that it is bend in different sideways directions in a magnetic field, and not towards or away from the magnetic field. Or have i got a wrong understanding? Current understanding is that there is no difference between ...

Re: Logbook access
From what I've seen, access was withdrawn as part of a general tidy up of CERNs IT systems.
Given that we have no legitimate reason to access the logs, it's almost inevitable that access would be withdrawn at some point. It's a shame, as it was a nice insight into how the experiment was operated.

4-sigma signs of a nonstandard 115 GeV Higgs... in a leaked memo from ATLAS? http://resonaances.blogspot.com/2011/04/higgs-at-atlas-maybe.html Internal, unapproved, unreleased document - according to someone within the collaboration the analysis is "woefully incomplete" I'll wait until something ge...

Re: Please link 2011 schedule and latest news
I know how to do it - but the only person with the ability to do so is Xymox because it's his server
Perhaps unpin the current events discussion thread and start a new one with the 2011 link at the top of it for now CQ?

No worries Xymox - I had that link bookmarked from last time and it's a pretty impressive uptime to be honest!

To quote from http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lhc-commissioning/ : Plan to restart with beam on 21st February 2011 after the Christmas technical stop. It will take around 3 - 4 weeks to restablish collisions for the experiments. This will be followed by a phased intensity increase. The target f...

Hi ommair, We're an unofficial forum, most of our regular posters are not affiliated with CERN and as such most of us (myself included) will not be familiar with cmssw. As to your question, I imagine that the total energy of the muons in the case pp->H->ZZ->4*muon would be different to the case pp->...

Re: Redshift vs Gravitational field
Why doesn't anyone say it is the gravity field of our solar system that is expanding over time, and that is what stretches the incommoning lightwaves, causing the redshift effect. Well nobody says that because it's not quite right :) Space is expanding over time, so you get redshift as a result of ...
