Re: RF frequncy of LHC: 400.789 MHz
Well the RFC frequency determines the bucket size, which in turn determines the bunch length that can be effectively captured. You want as long a bucket as possible but there are limitations because a lower frequency means a larger RF cavity which leads to greater challenges with applying supercond...

Quite the opposite. It doesn't interact with anything except through gravity. If it exists that is.

Now that's what I call hardcore dedication to following your dreams !
You'll find it's a bit quiet here at the moment on account of someone having turned off our favourite awesome machine for a bit, but there's still a few hard core nuts lurking around if you want a chat on the subject.

Looks a bit empty !
Does anyone know if we'll be able to get updates on the progress during LS1 ?

Re: L'Aquila quake: Italy scientists guilty of manslaughter
Your logic is backwards.
With the earthquake scientists said it was dangerous but some non-scientists disagreed with them.
With the LHC scientists say it is safe, but some non-scientists disagreed with them.
Following your logic, since the earthquake *was* dangerous the LHC is therefore safe.
QED
