What would happen if he met the Pope ? How could you make it happen ? Would we need a Large Patriarch Collider ?Stephen wrote:Maybe he's the anti pope St. Malachy made a prophecy about.

I happen to think it's the best explanation of the LHC I've ever come across. Probably what got me interested in it in the frst place.Anitusar wrote:Not bad.

Re: Anyone notice the new SMP flags ?
Explanation by pcatom given in chat - It was always in the system ... just not displayed It is the cross-linking of the 2 beam interlock systems for the 2 beams each beam has an beam interlock system with many inputs. Some of these would just dump the individual beam - others would dump both beams t...

Re: 666
I have realised a good philosophical use for posters like this. From time to time I wonder if everything I see and perceive are real or just some figment of my imagination. Posts like the one that started this thread have made me realise that, in fact, all this *is* real. There's no way my mind is w...

Re: How much does it cost...
Then again, surely they'll want incredibly high purity samples of Hydrogen (which I assume they want for protons) and Lead - that I know can cost a lot. But like you say, it is miniscule quantities. Wouldn't he impurties just drop out during the creation/acceleration/injection process ? If you had ...

Re: My stance
The issues in the press about the LHC have been caused because scientists have said "We don't know what is going to happen" and journalists have heard "Anything could happen". The two are very different things.

Re: How much does it cost...
I've been wondering how much filling the LHC with protons/ions costs. How much does a proton fill cost? I assume more bunches/intensity cost more? Do Pb ions cost more to use? Is there a pricetag per collision? :P OK I'm largely guessing here but here goes anyway. In terms of the cost of the partic...

Re: personal theory questions
P.S. there was also something I read about seismic activity in 1993 somewhere around california supposedly being cause by a wormhole going through our planet? I'm sure you could also read somewhere that it was the Devil farting if you looked hard enough. What might have happened is some 'scientist'...
