Re: Underground webcams

yeah that would be great for you and us if u got an invitation to go and look around one day, take plenty of pictures and meet the faces to the names etc, see what kind of folk they are etc etc, and it would be a nice thank you for the work you have put in :) We'd better start an airfare donations ...

Re: Weekend of 12-3-09 collision events !

I completely agree there's no scientific reason to go for higher power collisions just yet, but there might be a temptation to do it in order to 'tick the box' and get it over and done with.

Re: ** current events and discussion **

Looks like more of the same is planned overnight, collisons for the experiments.

Tomorrow testing for higher intensities and perhaps some ramping.

Interesting to see the intensity scale has been changed on the graph on the status op page.

Re: Weekend of 12-3-09 collision events !

Nice work finding out about the ducks ! :D

Did you ever find out if they did higher power collisions ?

I guess right now there's little point in that other than to set a record as the scientific value would be limited until they've confirmed all the experiments are calibrated well.

Yes I saw that, looks OK now.
This is odd, different pages are showing different things. Cryo Page 1 shows red, HCC field page shows yellow and the Cryo Main Page for sector 56 shows green !

Re: Cryo Problems 07/12

Small Cryo issue on the inner triple magnet in sector 56, showing yellow HCC field page, was red on Cryo page 1 but looks OK now.

I was hoping this would happen. It would be great to see some people post cool setups, number of monitors doesn't really matter just something cool.

Be my guest although I must confess this isn't a permanent set up and I don't actually own the equipment. But it helps running an IT support department !

Re: Weekend collision events !

DCWhitworth: Well yea.. But from this start up to physics.. It was still all the same steps during this last 15 days that would have been required last year too. To get things tuned enough for first physics in that short a period was VERY impressive. You must admit.. Oh absolutely, I completely agr...

Re: *** First science results ***

The Higgs is one of the least ambitious thing they hope to find out - I expect there to be a huge media storm if they do make black holes or somehow find proofs for string theory. I thought the major problem with String Theory was that it was unprovable ? Here is a llink to a nice summary of the qu...
