Re: ** Current Events and discussion **

I remember either a topic or a discussion on chat regarding the effect of the ATLAS/CMS/etc. magnets on the beam. The 0900 meeting today mentions some small corrections to B2 with regards to the CMS magnet going on - but no noticable change to B1. I'm sure it'll interest whoever I was chatting with ...

Re: ** Current Events and discussion **

Blue generally indicates "Status Unknown" - the TED indicators on Page 1 go blue when moving because "when they were only halfway up, they were neither up nor down", as the song goes (oh aren't I witty!)

Re: ** Current Events and discussion **

Today's interesting glitch was that RF turned off without anyone noticing, so the injected protons debunched and the euipment assumed there was no beam (and claimed it was lost). They injected twice more, before someone pointed out the intensity was getting quite high on one of the monitors, since a...

Re: The Hump

Actually, the log I nabbed the image from noted both as humps - and if you look closely, it is 3 humps with 1 between the diamonds. B2 hump reference one hump in V at 0.21 and another 0.305 .below the vertical tune. no hump visible in H EDIT: Actually, looking at today's hump pics, I'm wondering if ...

Re: ** Current Events and discussion **

Today so far:

Seem to have finally got stuff in 67 and 78 working and are ready to throw in some beams soon.

Also solved their Dump Event messages messing up - with what sounds like "Oops, we plugged in the wrong cable in the wrong place" - I know this major issue often occurs in Physics...

2010 Briefings, Schedules and Problems

Those of you here last year may remember my collection and interpretation of the daily meetings/schedules at CERN, so why not do so again this year? :) I'm currently going on the 0830/1700 meeting presentations, linked to under "Progress" on the Portal. -- Tues 2 Mar: 03:00: Recovered from cryogenic...

Re: The Hump

Tau wrote:The fact that it moves around signifies that the oscillation comes from the outside.
Which would explain the table on Page 8 of the link in the first post, with the turning off of various possible influences and comparing the hump (or lack of) when these happen.
