Ah... now I understand this strange feeling that came over me in 2008 and which wouldn't go away ever since!

Re: New to Forum

Welcome to the forum! Sit back and enjoy while we accelerate you to 3.5 TeV! The old "big dog hits you about knee-high from the back" routine? Got some experience with that with a certain Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever (the GR I knew in my youth, the Lab is about 2.5 now). I personally find...

Re: 3.5 TeV accelleration ! WORLD RECORD !

Read about it on El Reg and couldn't wait to get home to see it for myself. (Another reason for not being able to wait is that's raining cats and dogs and since I go to work on a bike I am soaking wet right now). Congrats to CERN for this achievement! Well done!! Now on to the next milestone! :happy...

Re: On the threshold of new territory

What is also interesting is how this has not been in the news for weeks, and now that one source publishes it, suddenly it's all over the Interwebz (Dutch-language Google News was full of links about it a few days ago). Makes you wonder how many newspapers actually do their job (news gathering) and ...

Ayep, got that one too. Never installed it and since I use FFX for a reason (want to be in control of what my comp does) I'm also pretty p@#$ed off about it.

Maybe ... erm ... Linux? :occasion-santa:

Re: Issues with Firefox 3.6?

Nope, FFX 3.6 works fine for me so far. Could it be related to some plugin you are running? When I upgraded to 3.6 there was an announcement that some plugins were not yet verified as being fully compatible with 3.6. BTW I am running NoScript and not much else. So far I haven't found any other plugi...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

Stephen, Did you ever hear of the problems Physics departments at universities have with would-be inventors of a perpetuum mobile? Or Maths depts with would-be (dis)proofs of Fermat's theorem? Disproving a theory like this can be very difficult. Unless there are clear errors in the thing (think 1+1 ...

Re: Can black holes grow?

Nice one, Thx! Also the other illustrations and moves are very interesting. BTW - His site links to an earlier site here he made, with more primitive animations but also describing in text what happens during a trip into a black hole (scroll a little down to the Index). Strange... why do I have this...
