Re: Does Relativistic mass yield real mass?
I'm not an expert but I'm going to have a stab at roughly explaining this. The important thing to remember to help you understand all that is e=mc^2 When you get down to the quantum level energy and mass become readily interchangeable. That is why, for instance, the mass of sub atomic particles are ...

Re: Physicists plan to build a bigger LHC
Hmmm, interesting but I think this was old news even when the article was published. The vLHC is just one of a series of ideas on how to move on.

Re: What Causes Lightning?
Until I read the article I thought the same, but now I think the idea is plausible. Lightning isn't a very well understood phenomenon. As far as I understand the article isn't saying that the particles cause the storms. the storms occur naturally and the manner in which they generate the charge in t...

If this is the greatest science feat since the 1920's why haven't I heard about it anywhere else ?

Personally I prefer to stick to worrying about looking both ways when crossing the road.

Re: FCC
I don't doubt that it can be, or will be able to be, done technically, my concerns would be getting the funding for it and finding a suitable geographically and geologically suitable place for it.

Re: is dark energy dangerous?
can you answer my question? Nope, no one can. Virtually nothing is known about dark matter, its properties or even if it actually exists. It also depends what you mean by dangerous and by "what would happen ?". Dangerous to you ? Maybe, who knows ? Dangerous to the universe, I doubt it very much, b...

Re: RF frequncy of LHC: 400.789 MHz
Well the RFC frequency determines the bucket size, which in turn determines the bunch length that can be effectively captured. You want as long a bucket as possible but there are limitations because a lower frequency means a larger RF cavity which leads to greater challenges with applying supercond...
