Access denied for the LHC/Accelerator schedules ?

Hi! It seems that there is a new access policy on the LHC/Accelerator Schedules. Trying to access them requires CERN login, and supplying a valid lightweight external one is not enough - I'm consistently getting Access denied. I even requested access using the link on the Access denied page, but no ...

A new link for "Progress" page

Hi!
It seems that the old location is abandoned, nothing happens there. The new location is there: http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lh ... -news.html . It would be nice to change the link.

Pilot bunches in physics fills

Hi! This year, LHC uses a different filling scheme than the previous year. The pilot bunch in bucket 1 is not overinjected with a nominal one, and even more pilots (obviously 3) are injected to the rings, together with the nominal ones. What's the purpose of these small bunches ? Are they used for s...

Re: Understanding collimators

Hi! I would like to achieve better understanding, how the collimators are organized around the machine. When you look at the collimator fixed displays for beam 1 and 2, you can find some rules, but there are too many exceptions from the rules, that it's worth asking :-). 1) In IPs 1,3,5,6 and 7, bo...

Another outdated portal link

Hi! The link "Cryo" (in the lower part of LHC links) is now also outdated. Now it's linking http://hcc.web.cern.ch/HCC/cryo_main/cryo_main.php?region=Sector12§or=12 but the correct URL should be now http://hcc.web.cern.ch/hcc/control/cryo_main.php?region=Sector12 . It would be also nice to have ...

Hi!

I'm Pavel from Prague, Czech Republic. I'm very interested in LHC and CERN generally, because the secrets of the Universe were always very interesting for me and I hope that at least some of them will be discovered here! I'm working in a telecommunication industry and also I'm teaching it at the Cze...
