Re: Too many spam-bots

Would putting "/Forum/viewforum.php?f=3" in your robots.txt file work?
(if Google, etc. stop crawlining that forum, I assume it becomes worthless for SEO purposes?)

Re: BBC programme on the LHC

Two more entries in the LHCb logbook today -

09-Nov 13:40 BBC crew (5) + Gloria and Conor are in UX85.
09-Nov 17:38 BBC crew and our film stars are safely out again.

Re: Are all interfaces to the ring optically coupled?

relative low cost ...

If i am reading the figures at the bottom of todays cyro report correctly. The cost of upgrading the 65 PLCs to get reducndancy is 1.5 Million swiss franks + 2 man-years of labour for cabling and code re-write.

Re: What to ask the LHC team about its operations or displays

Are the LHCb team going to reset their fill luminosity back to zero?
It is causing problems with the integated luminosity graph

Re: Current Events Discussion

Looks like they are now about to try 152 bunches,
filling scheme 150ns_152b_140_16_140_8bpi19injB

so I assume 19 injections x 8 bunches

A perfect first 48 bunch run ... then we lose cyro in point 6 for 18 hours (no beam before Sat lunch)

Rather long but chock full of details about the current future plans (2010 - 2020 - 2030) for Cern and the LHC and injector chain http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1275119/ Sadly no slides available but an eclectic mix of French, Irish, Italian, American accents. Re: Current Events Discussion

2 for ramp, 10 for cycle/rampl down (e.g. no beam)
so they are trying to keep the beam unter control while it is changing 5x faster :-)

I would rather herd cats ...
