Is it? the schedule shows physics up to Friday...

B.
Perhaps, but page 1 says: "No beam", followed by "end of ion run 2010". I would trust the latter=)

Re: Antimatter captured for a fifth of a second?

Thank you so much photino. It was nice reading it from a more reliable source than the swedish Aftonbladet=)

As you all know I lack the physics knowledge to understand most of what is said here, but even to me this news were fascinating.

Antimatter captured for a fifth of a second?

I read an article in a Swedish newspaper (not the most reliable source though) that CERN had managed to create 38 antiatoms and even managed to "capture" some of them in an atom trap (although just for a split second). Is this true? Sounds like a quite amazing feat so I'm surprised that I haven't he...

Re: Current Events Discussion

Wow, I didn't expect them returning to proton physics before christmas break. Either they got ions working much faster than they anticipated or they are pressed too much by the electron cloud problem. I guess it's a bit of both. Ok, but does that mean that they aren't going to continue the heavy io...

Re: Current Events Discussion

Ok, but does that mean that they aren't going to continue the heavy ion commissioning during this development? Or are they doing both simultaneously

Re: Current Events Discussion

I just looked at the Live Schedule for LHC and it says that they are going for stable beams to Wed. and thereafter goes over to proton MD. So my possibly quite stupid question is; what do "MD" stand for?

Only an idiot would let it happen with the same person over and over again.
That must be the worst analogy you've ever come up with. Did that even make sense in your head?

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

Just out of curiosity, which neutrino measurements do you look at when you are waiting for the increase to happen? You know that fluxes happen every now and then, do you?

Just pointing out the obvious to keep you from wrapping yourself up in tinfoil....

Haha, who would have thought that you would postpone this doomsday too? I guess you are quite surprised that we didn't die last night huh? And don't worry about what you will be called, as far as I know no one has ever referred to you as Dr. Dark Energy (well, you have but that doesn't count) only t...

Re: Current Events Discussion

Wow, that is quite fantastic. Especially given the estimates they gave at first, or did they set out to reach as high as 3.5TeV initially? I thought it was 2.76TeV or something they were hoping for?

If you wont I can resend the e-mail from my e-mail box to your e-mail box. The source is not my friend and I think the information is not reliable. But tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we will have the first collisions of heavy ions. I have no time to translate the last my "articles", which was s...

But... What happened to the dangerous condensate that you were so hellbent sure was going to kill us all? How come all your disaster scenarios have a timespan of 500-1000 days?
Serious calculations?
