Re: nightmares and dreams surrounding LHC
Interestingly, some evidence suggests that gravity can indeed leak across the interdimensional barrier so there is a small chance that sufficiently energetic events (ie a supernova) could manifest as some sort of instability as the gravitational field would spike significantly. IIRC the ekpyrotic hy...

Dark matter
Hi, just saw an article on BBC News 24. Its interesting to note that dark matter is actually in competition with MiHsC and either could be correct at this point or elements of both. The interesting thing is that physicists have no explanation for hyperenergetic cosmic rays at this time, my own idea ...

Re: Armaggadon and Nanotechnology
Two words. Energy Deficit.
All the nanites will do is block out the Sun and then run out of energy, therefore only the edges of the cloud would be dangerous.
Also when they run out of address space (cough IPV4 /cough) they will stop according to the journal "XKCD"

Re: Mental illness
I seem to recall reading that Tesla had bipolar, OCD AND possibly some traits of ASD. Also worth mentioning is that Einstein almost certainly had some brain abnormality associated with autism, they proved this conclusively but he may have made up the deficit because of the high number of glial cells...

Re: What Causes Lightning?
Its more likely that aliens will show up and confiscate all our nuclear weapons en masse by about a factor of 100,000 than anything the LHC doing affecting anything other than a small area. The magnet anomaly shows exactly what happens when it overloads, it can't run away like a nuclear reactor so n...

Re: nightmares and dreams surrounding LHC
Hmm.. Has anyone considered that the signals emitted by LHC *might* show up in a parallel Universe as some sort of micro blitzar-like phenomena? A current theory of mine is that the Wow! signal was in fact an event of this type, produced by a parallel Earth using their version of the Superconducting...

Yay!
So am I right in saying that the magnets are maxed out right now? or is this more of a soft limit to maximize useful S-N ratio?

Hi
Hello.. I'm Andre, also known as "photonic" on IRC channel #hvcomm and others. I post a lot on 4HV under "Conundrum" and also am active in the maker scene and among other projects am working on high temperature superconductors and electromagnetic propulsion. My other research interests include laser...
